Just getting back to normal life after 3 exciting days with Kraftwerk in Stockholm. The arena was the fantastic old Cirkus arena. The choice of venue couldnīt be a better one (this is the same venue that Rolling Stones specially requested for a gig in Stockholm, after being recommend by Dylan).
The set list was identical all 3 days (and also same as for Helsinki), but the show initself had some (very) small variations :
Sunday, February 8, 2004
- Small problems with the curtains not opening and closing properly
- Florian wearing glasses during the first couple of songs
- Very bad sound "feedback" when Ralf sang "Tour de France"
- Florian did his weird little "dance" (i.e. bending his knees...) during Pocket Calculator
- Ralf ended by saying "See you tomorrow"
Monday, February 9, 2004
- Synchronization problems when Man Mashine started and the guys still were behind the curtains. Our "robots" had a hectical moment; one could see this on the shadows on the back lit curtain.
- Ralf burst into laughter ( first time ever ?) during Pocket Calculator. Maybe at Florian ? I didnīt see the reason.
- No video during the intro to Radioactivity
- Ralf ended with "Good Bye"
Tuesday, Ferbruary 10, 2004
- Ralf had problems with his microphone during Computer World. Occationally, his voice was lost.
- More musical improvisations from the band members than ususal, before they left the stage, one after one, during Music Non Stop
- Florian ran from the stage - faster than ever !
- Ralf ended with "Auf Wiedersehen"
Personally, I think these concerts were slightly better than last years Luxembourg concert, and much better than the 1991 Solna-Sweden concert. Superb projections and sound quality, the robots were back (did not appear in Luxembourg), red shirts/black ties is much nicer than the all black outfits in last years concert. And the illuminous clothing they had during the last part of the show is gives a stunning effect combined with the new songs (EKG & Aerodynamik) and back projections.
A 30 second clip from the beginnig of the Sunday show was shown on Swedish television. Panel discussion about Kraftwerk on the "Pop i Fokus" TV-show.
Calle Dernulf from radio show "P3 Dans" called the Monday concert "probably the best concert Iīve ever seen"- on his radio show yesterday.
Lots of celebrities on the Tuesday show. I saw some of the band members from "Kent", Johan Kinde from "Lustans Lakejer", Janne Schaffer, and also lots of TV & radio people.
Svenska Dagbladet (morning paper) wrote in a VERY positive review (translated) :
"It is so beautiful and esthetically perfected that it almost takes your breath away. A powerful concert experience leaving the audience completely stumped for some quivering minutes."
"..a concert which does not surprise the least but which at moments is so completely brilliant it leaves memories for life."
I also made a recording (Mini Disc) of the Tuesday show which turned out to be of superb audio quality.
If any of the list members knows how & where to turn this recording into a bootleg double CD, pls mail me privately. (Iīm thinking CD pressing, not CD burning :-)
