Hi, I've been away for a week and read about a hundred messages in one go,
My sympathies!
forgive me if this was already answered, but someone implied that Kraftwerk did not actually admit to being influenced by Stockhausen.
I questioned it.
They did, I have several interviews on tape from 1981 where Ralf talks about their early influences.
OK, fine, good.
He names Stockhausen, and also Fluxus happenings. John, help me here, could it be the Radio One show?
Now you say it, I remember Ralf crediting Fluxus. If you say he also credited Stocky, I believe you, but I don't actually recall, and it would be nice to be able to quote a source in the FAQ...
Besides, if in 1971 you wanted to make electronic music, there wasn't exactly loads of it around to influence you. I notice that some of you make some rather frigid statements about Stockhausen's music, but when R&F were young, that was pretty much all there was.
True. And even with the arrival of "affordable" commercial synthesisers, acceptance of electronic sound was a long time coming. I think some of the young'uns just don't realise. ;-D
(sorry if I seem like a snotty besserwisser
"Besserwisser"? That's a good word. :-D Kevin
