From Mute Mailing List info@mutehq.co.uk: Happening this week: Komputer play live in Italy (Rome (NEW), Bologna) http://www.mute.com/mute/news/tour.htm#Komputer DER AUTOMAT
I've been to the one in Bologna. The concert was scheduled for 23:45. I arrived there from Milan at 23:30, but the location, a sort of headquarter of left extremists, was totally empty. Someone told me the concert was going to start at 1:00, so I waited. From 24 to 1:30 a DJ played nice electro, techno and a sort of "soft hardcore". Most of the people coming in was under effect of XTC, so, when the DJ stopped his music to let Komputer play, they were very angry and with a nervous feeling for having no more techno rythm to dance over. In fact, Komputer started with a very long soft, ambient tune. People protested, whistled and cryed a lot: the two guys of Komputer watched eachother in a worried way many times, they didn't know what to do, 'cause they hadn't danceable bases to play... So they carried on with their synthetic, piercing and swirling tunes, while people left the room of the concert quite totally empty!!! They played for about 45 min. for about 10/12 listeners only!!! I think it's the last time we'll see them in Italy. Strange was the equipment they used: a VAIO PC, a sampler (I think) without keyboard, and 3 small electronic toys I couldn't recognize: no synths or keyboards at all. I'm very curious about those... does anybody know anything about it? Ciao, Didi
