I found "Tour De France" on Napster, last year but I haven't been able to find that CD. Is it out of print?
I've found a new appreciation of "Techno Pop" from "Electric Cafe". I've been playing it in my truck
Peace!
TdF was released as the first single to Kraftwerk's 1983 album, "Technopop" Then Ralf got into a serious biking accident, and they had to delay the album. Then Ralf didn't like where Technopop was going, and they decided to devote time to upgrading Kling Klang studios from analog to digital. They re-did some of the tracks of the "Technopop" album in digital ("Techno Pop", "Sex Object" are the only ones publicly known), and released it in 1986 as "Electric Cafe". Tour de France was supposed to be on the "Technopop" album, but it never saw light of day (Really close though...) It wasn't re-done in digital for Electric Cafe either... In the late 1990's Kraftwerk released a single version of it...thats the only official album you can get it. I suggest listening to the leaked Technopop demos (Sex Object and Techno Pop), if you havent already...I enjoy them a bit more than the Electric Cafe versions... There's your information...
