Hi all,
I usually only post to the list when I have something to say, which
is every other year or so. This time I think I can add something
vaguely relevant.

Haven't read that, but when I interviewed Karl in July 2000 (at the
Arvika festival) I asked him what he thought about the book. The
relevant paragraph, right after Karl says he didn't like it much:
"I think it's too personal. We are good friends and we talk to each
other, and as he sent me the manuscripts I told him not to publish it
or just make it more abstract. It's much too personal for my kind of
like. But for him it's a kind of therapy, and it's his personal point
of view. If I would write a book it would be totally different. So
it's just one point of view, and I think his point of view is too
romantic and too full of feelings. He seems to be very hurt. But I
usually don't talk about other people's work. I'm not a critic, I
think everybody should read it himself or herself and judge later."
If you want to I can post the whole interview as printed in
Prospective 2/2000; I think that issue of the magazine is sold out
anyway.
And after that, I'll probably go back to lurking until 2005 or so.
Cheers,
Anders W.

As was said by Mr. Duarte:

Wouldn't even be the first time that illustration was used as the design for
an unreleased LP...
But hey, it _does_ seem more likely than before.

I hate to be so pessimistic but, as much as I'm going helplessly insane wishing for a new Kraftwerk album, I can't let myself believe it until I actually get my hands on it.

Indeed. Wait and see, but the presence of a reworked 12" cover might suggest something definite. I'll be interested to see what the LP will be about. In fact, making an album about the Tour De France might be quite interesting, and entirely in line with their previous LP themes - although what the material will be like is another matter. Will the new version of TDF just have the intro which has graced their live version of it since '91? Or will it be reworked completely differently?

Hmm. I dunno. I'm tired of hoping for the best and being disappointed, so
I'm erring on the cynical side these years. I'll wait and see.

There is an interview with Uwe Schmidt at .H magazine last issue June 2003
and here he says: "Some people think Senor Coconut's music is ironic, but it
really is not. Senor Coconut is humorous."
