At work so can't listen but they may stream it from here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/insideldn/radio/robertelms_audio.shtml - after the event. Maybe I'm strange and/or getting old but I like Elms and so hopefully it should be a good interview. ------- Original message ------- From: David C <davec@theedge.abelgratis.co.uk> Date: Tue, 13 Jul 2004 13:57:03 +0100 Subject: [KLF] Bill Drummond is on Robert Elms Show on horrible BBC LDN radio, imminently. _______________________________________________ KLF mailing list KLF@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/klf Capital One Classic Mastercard 60 second response online. http://mocda.com/1/c/681064/117934/307081/307081 AOL users go here http://mocda.com/1/c/681064/117934/307081/307081
Hey, I like BBC London. It's the station I listen to the most - with BBC R2 2nd. Danny Baker in the mornings is great, as at Sean Rowley's shows. kt.

Baker is okay if you are in the mood, and Rowley is certainly all right. Not very representative though. Try that fascist Gaunt. Or Vanessa "gays aren't normal", "I'm a serious journalist" Feltz, who was quite rightly sacked from BBC 1 for incompetence that made the BBC a laughing stock. Or their book show -- I find errors of fact every time I listen. Publishers will be mismatched to books, and so on. And how about: "I'm 34", "I was at all the punk gigs in 1976" (does he really think we can't do the math???), "I know someone who knows someone who was in the Yardies". I'm paraphrasing the last bit, but the former two are direct quotes from last year, and I have them on tape somewhere. And the rest of it - Coldcut were sacked for playing music a year or two back, so they could put yet more chat on. The whole station is now obsessed with improving ratings by appealing to women, which were okay to begin with (when it was GLR). Is that what the BBC should be about? I suspect that Norman Jay is retained either because he is black and very good at what he does, and that Charlie Gillett and Elms are on long contracts. Elms is perhaps tolerated because of his Baftas (as many as Gaunt), fluent Spanish and travel experience (the BBC have no one else of his background). It started by being obsessed with news and decimating what GLR was doing. The IBA would never have allowed the changes if it had been under their control - so much for public service boradcasting, then. And the whole thing is unpalatably racist. 'Multicultural' indeed. What cultures? They cover 19 - on their website. In Imran Khan they had one of the best Asian broadcasters - so they sacked him. 'Fraid I don't know what R2 2nd is, though I'm aware that there are some good things on Radio 2 now.

I don't think you can stream his whole show after the event, just live. The Drummond one was pretty short - 10 minutes or less. I think Elms' show is okay as well. But then I am strange. ------- Original message ------- From: David C <davec@theedge.abelgratis.co.uk> Date: Tue, 13 Jul 2004 13:57:03 +0100 Subject: [KLF] Bill Drummond is on Robert Elms Show on horrible BBC LDN radio, imminently. _______________________________________________ KLF mailing list KLF@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/klf Capital One Classic Mastercard 60 second response online. http://mocda.com/1/c/681064/117934/307081/307081 AOL users go here http://mocda.com/1/c/681064/117934/307081/307081 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----
