Re: [KLF] KLF and Scooter - what's the connection???
Hi all,
Has Scooter been mentioned on this list before?
yes, many many many times. who's working on the FAQ? pls make sure this stuff is in it. Darren: i've got nearly complete archives of the list for the last few years. if theres no searchable archive (cant remember if xmission allows that or not) i can dig all the scooter stuff out if you want it. email me offlist. my understanding is that scooter think KLF stuff was well done, so they copy lots of it, often. its too easy to find links from Scooter stuff to KLF stuff. Thought: As "The KLF" get older and older, and the younger generations don't know about them, are we going to see more stuff 'inspired by the klf' being created? you know what they say about everything old becomes new again - since breakbeat seems to have swung around again, isnt it time for stadium house to make a comeback? cheers brendan /via webmail from work

google indexes the mailman archives of this list - so you can search the archive using google (include "site:mailman.xmission.com" in your search terms to restrict the results to pages at xmission) jon -- "There is no governor anywhere. does that mean the spammers can then get it with crawlers? i've recently had a surge in spam (from nothing! to multiple a week increasing) and trying to determine where the address got out. thanx brendan

yes, it does :(

Yeah, probably from the archives. I think mailman has options to garble/remove emails from the web archive versions - it might be worth asking lazlo to enable this... -- "God not only plays dice, he also sometimes throws the dice where they cannot be seen." - Steven Hawking

oops, i spoke too soon - the mailman archives don't show email addresses of the sender (they replace it with klf@mailman.xmission.com) but if there's an address somewhere in the message body it doesn't get removed e.g if the body includes something like "at 03:23am cow@example.com wrote:" then that address will be preserved in the archive. Try this search, and you'll see my email address displayed for any spider to grab: http://www.google.com/search?q=wakely%20site%3Amailman.xmission.com -- "We should forget about small efficiencies, say about 97% of the time: premature optimization is the root of all evil." - Donald Knuth (paraphrasing Tony Hoare)
