I've taken it upon myself to make some updated movie files of the KLF video clips I can get my hands on. I'm cleaning up the audio and video, enlarging the image, and re-encoding everything in DivX 5 format, so the file sizes are about 1/3 the original with better image and sound quality. Thus far, I have finished "The Rites of Mu" and "The White Room" (both of which I got from RMStringer's server), which I would like to make available to those on this list who are interested in them. The only problem is that I don't have a readily-accessible place to store these files. If you would like to host my files, give me an address/login of your server, and I will upload them -- or tell me how you'd like to get them from me. Also, if you have some files you'd like me to process, let me know how I can get them. PS: RMStringer: I've been having some problems with "connection reset" on your server today. It worked fine yesterday and seems to be working okay right now, and I'll keep trying to get the files from you. -- Soren Harward soren@byu.edu
Did you re encode the audio on the white room movie? Did you re encode the audio on the white room movie?
Yes, I did. I ran it through a noise reduction filter and then re-encoded it at 128kbps (I think -- it may have been 112). -- Soren Harward soren@byu.edu _______________________________________________ KLF mailing list KLF@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/klf

Sounds like great work but if we talk about that: Is there any chance to rip the movies in better quality from the "originals"? I mean does anyone actually know where "The White Room" is comming from? I guess even if you can do a cleanup it would be still much better to get the hands on the original and rip it again, I know sounds easy but getting them might be hard :-) I also would like to see rips of all the video clips the KLF had, anone knows some people at MTV or another music channel who could get their hands on the original copies? An MPEG2 rip would be great, DVD writers become cheap nowadays and IMHO it's time for a first DVD bootleg :-))) Also imagine if we could interview some people who worked together with the KLF for that Bootleg DVD, that would be fun! Is there a list of all movies/videos the KLF made somewhere? cu Adrian -- Adrian Gschwend @ OS/2 Netlabs ICQ: 22419590 ktk@netlabs.org ------- The OS/2 OpenSource Project: http://www.netlabs.org
I asked a person on the ORB List I few could work on that and I did not get a reply back. I would be willing to purchase a DVD if someone was willing to make a DVD with all the stuff on it. This came up earlier this year and after a flurry of discussion nothing really happened. While DVD writers and media are getting cheaper, doing a good encode of the data is another entirely. (Ever compared the quality of a good/expensive Kung Fu DVD to some el cheapo version of an obscure early Jackie Chan film? The source material is not always entirely to blame!) There's no way to avoid somebody doing a lot of work for videos like The White Room or Waiting, but quite a few of the videos have already been transferred to DVD. (See http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1562823456, plus there are a number of DJ Service DVDs now available with KLF videos.) If somebody had access to these then the .VOB files could be ripped directly and put on to a compilation DVD.

The discography lists them all, doesn't it? http://www.klf.de/discography Michael

yeah that's true. I look at this as a long term process, that means in the first stage we take what we get in the quality we get it and release a 1.0 version of the DVD. I guess within month/years we would find more things to add and maybe we can replace some versions with better quality versions too. So we could release a V2, v2.1 and so on.

would be an option but I don't feel like buying all of them right now :) any volunteers? ;-)) However if anyone got one of them already I can provide some FTP on a very fast connection to collect them. I don't yet have a DVD burner but I'm quite sure there are people with burners on this list!?

We asked once at MTV UK but they said that they were not permitted to give out any kind of copies...
Also imagine if we could interview some people who worked together with the KLF for that Bootleg DVD, that would be fun!
The interviews might be a problem, everything else would be piece of cake. More or less. We know a company that presses (!) DVDs at a price of around 6 Euro (1.000 DVDs). We are now trying to gather all available video material in the best available quality... (note: this is NO promise of a DVD release... yet...) --- Thomas Touzimsky same shit // different day
