Now that list is bit more active again, I take this opportunity to ask something. I still haven't got clear picture of tracks in these: Eternity 23: 5:20 Madrugada Eterna (club mix) "Italian", allegedly Mike Dutton bootleg. Eterna 1: 5:20 Madrugada Eterna (club mix) ?:?? Madrugada Eterna (club mix - edit) Seems that all the versions of this that have been on ebay, on this list and discogs are 1-sided backwards misspresses. Can someone confirm that above is true or not? And how long is Club mix edit? Are club mix versions on 23 and 1 same? Thanks! -- anttil.
I can confirm that the "Italian" bootleg was Mike Dutton as he told me whilst I was on the phone to him at the time asking about KLF releases he'd got in at the time! :) On 25 September 2013 13:32, Antti Lavio <antti.lavio@possu.org> wrote:

So actually there's three versions? Eternity 23: 1-sided bootleg Eterna 1: 1-sided backwards misspress, with two tracks Eterna 1: 2-sided with 3 tracks? And yes, popsike is on heavy use too, thanks ;) Reason why I'm asking this is that I'm trying to compile revised discography. It might or might not see light some day ;) Right now, it's just a mess in excel that probably only I can decipher. Actually four versions.... There are two backwards pressings, one of the A side (2 tracks) and one of the B side (1 track)... Eternity 23: 1-sided bootleg Eterna 1: 1-sided backwards misspress, with two tracks (A side) - 1A 1 ANRETE Eterna 1: 1-sided backwards mispress, with one track (B side) - 1B 1 ANRETE Eterna 1: 2-sided with 3 tracks (confirmed) The B side reverse pressing was sold by Tim Richards (Positive Void) on ebay for £510 in September 2004, but for some reason this auction was not recorded on popsike, but I happened by chance to make a permanent note of it. The A side was sold on ebay for £259 in December 2007 (see popsike). I remember the other backwards MP, didn't Tim richards sell it? Was it a list member who bought it Another thought, how is it possible to mispress backwards? Surely if it is a mispress, the whole process must have been messed up and very costly. The Mother stampers would have been all wrong. Is it possible the reverse press wasn't a mispress but intentional? A weird kind of b-side. Remember some of the old metal albums that when played backwards contained satanic messages! I'm not an expert, but my conclusion is that they may have been pressed directly from the father. As the mother stamper which is produced from the father would be in reverse to produce a regular record. Maybe someone can help explain this? ________________________________ From: Len Goody <len7@btinternet.com> To: "klf@mailman.xmission.com" <klf@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, 26 September 2013, 1:18 Subject: [KLF] Fw: Madrugada Eterna versions Actually four versions.... And yes, popsike is on heavy use too, thanks ;) Reason why I'm asking this is that I'm trying to compile revised discography. It might or might not see light some day ;) Right now, it's just a mess in excel that probably only I can decipher. If I can figure out, how to put it in user friendly and readable format to google docs example, it will be published. I'm kinda hoping to get it also user editable, so list members could also fix errors and edit it. But let's see, I'm not making any promises! -- anttil. On 25.9.2013 18:09, Tim Tim wrote:

The above discogs entry is correct. Just not sure of the timings. Checkout http://www.popsike.com/ Its a great resource for ebay auction results going back years!

Now that list is bit more active again, I take this opportunity to ask something.
I still haven't got clear picture of tracks in these:
Eternity 23:
5:20 Madrugada Eterna (club mix)
"Italian", allegedly Mike Dutton bootleg.
Eterna 1:
5:20 Madrugada Eterna (club mix) ?:?? Madrugada Eterna (club mix - edit)
Seems that all the versions of this that have been on ebay, on this list and discogs are 1-sided backwards misspresses.
Can someone confirm that above is true or not? And how long is Club mix edit? Are club mix versions on 23 and 1 same?
Thanks!

I've been thinking about this too and I just can't figure out how it could be possible to this by accident. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDduaWNX2fo&t=73 tells how it is done, and backwards mispress has to backwards from beginning, meaning first lacquer. http://standardvinyl.com/vinyl-pressing/lacquers-masters/ But what I understood that in backwards press also ETERNA and ADRENALIN are ANRETE and NILANERDA, backwards, I don't know what has happenede. Also in old list posts it is said that "ETERNA 1 was the test pressing, and KLF 011T was the record due for release." but usually test presses were exactly same as test pressings, meaning two different cat# requires two different masters (and lacquers). I think it might have been intentional. -- anttil.

Here's how you could still play it forwards: Remove the cartridge with headshell, turn it 180 degrees so that the stylus points up and put it back on the tonearm. Put an ashtray of suitable height on the platter. Put the record with the playing side down on the ashtray. Lift the tonearm so that the stylus touches the record at centre . Play it. A friend of mine used to actually do this with a normal copy of "Moments In Love" when DJ'ing. Nobody noticed that it was playing backwards... You could of course also play it normally and record it to your computer and then use an audio editing program to reverse the audio.
Cheating or not, I now can't shake the need to hear what Moments in Love sounds like backwards!
