An 'ultra rare trax'-style compilation
I'm thinking of putting together a "rare tracks" KLF EP. It would be a limited edition release (probably around 250 white labels) and - so far - would feature the following tracks: Side 1 Burn the Bastards (Possum 7" version) Uptight (Banana 2000 mix on possum) KLF005s (3am eternal w/o intro/outtro) [one of the two tracks off the French "No More Tears" sampler] Side 2 What Time is Love (Monster Attack Mix) 3 AM Eternal (Hitfactory US Promo) Love Trance Whitney Houston "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" accapella Just wanted to gauge interest/get comments. Overall great idea, espically a vinyl only release. But what does that ^ have to do with The KLF? Besides the sample in Whitney Joins the JAMs, i've never heard of any accapella thing... -- . \ ` ' / . ._` __^__ '_. Loki Ambridous von Esling [()=()] RELST8 - http://www.relst8.net /_____\ Justified

hi chris, don't know if this does any good, but i *REALLY REALLY* would like to see this happen. i suspect there are butload of lurkers like me who would want few copies of this. the last project of this sort i benefitted from was "the lost sound of mu" from '96, and it's a recording i treasure dealy (if it was on vinyl, it would have become an automatic family heirloom - no, i ain't got no "family" yet). i'm willing to hawk copies to local record stores specializing in vinyls (i live in san francisco,us, which has decent scene in dance music). perhaps, if it turns out ok, you might consider re-releasing other tracks as well? what's the volume economically reasonable for pressing vinyl? i rememeber back in the days, rock bands would press about thousand copies, hawk them to record stores... dasa -----Original Message----- From: klf-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:klf-bounces@mailman.xmission.com]On Behalf Of Chris Peel Sent: Monday, September 01, 2003 3:11 PM To: klf@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [KLF] An 'ultra rare trax'-style compilation I'm thinking of putting together a "rare tracks" KLF EP. Wow! I wasnt expecting such a reaction! :) Okay, I *can't* guarantee this will happen (there's a small matter of the cost), but I reckon I can get 100 double-sided 12" white-labels (including 10 test pressings) run off for about £500. This I can probably afford up-front. I'm certainly not looking to make a profit from this, so I'll be quite happy to sell the records of at cost (e.g. £500 / 100 records = £5 per record). At the same time, I would be a bit p*ssed if someone buys all 100, then flogs them off at £50 a shot so what I'll probably do is allow six months for anyone who wants a copy to buy one on a strictly one-per-customer basis, then I'll sell off any remaining copies to whoever wants 'em. I'll post progress updates to the list. Chris
Make it on a CD format also???? NoooOoOoOOoOOoo... having it vinyl only makes it "specialer." Plus it adds to the whole KLF mythic of having incredible amounts of different releases on different types of vinyl and such. :P (make it even better, have limited pressings with different colours and slightly different tracklisting every 10 releases.) Plus, I know this is stretching it a bit and most tracks are easially found already but vinyl only releases are (slightly) harder to pirate... -- . \ ` ' / . ._` __^__ '_. My thoughts exactly (although pressing 3 copies on multicoloured vinyl for "friends and family" might be pushing it a bit!) ;-) As far as a CD release is concerned, I'm sure someone either on or off the list will put together a CD-R version of it anyway. Once the vinyl is pressed up and the first batch have been sold I'll make all the tracks available on the FTP server (if someone hasn't already beaten me to it).

How are you supposed to distribute the pressed run ? Just asking, since I had this strange idea this afternoon... ------ Thomas Touzimsky "Sometimes I think of letting go and never looking back and never moving forward so there would never be a past."
Well, given that there will initially be only 100 for sale, I was expecting to ship them out just like an eBay won item. I have a paypal account already, so that seems the simplest way to transfer the money, I just need a shipping address and that's it.
