and luckily nothing as boring as KMFDM.
If you are talking about their latest works, I have to agree with you - "Hau Ruck" was the first KMFDM album in years which I didn't pick up. Quality has been downhill all the way since Adios. WWIII was boring uber-political mediocridy, while ATTAK had at least some interesting tracks (Superhero). I do however disagree to call Symbols and the MDFMK album boring, especially the latter being an outstanding archetype of a clean and perfectly produced industrial electro album and a personal all-time favourite of mine. ..::// Thomas
The only slight interesting point in KMFDM was a) the artwork b) the Adrian "On-U" Sherwood production / mixing on a few tracks. I even happened to see them live in the early 90`s in Hamburg and found my impressions proved. Pankow`s "Treue Hunde" album would be an outstanding archetype of an industrial electro album imho. - carsten Thomas Touzimsky schrieb:

Both Symbols and MDFMK are either late 90's (1999) or beyond, so maybe you should give them a listen. They are waaaaay ahead of their early material. ..::// Thomas Touzimsky The Top Five Country Songs #4 "It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chewed your ass out all day long"

Symbols (or !"%&@ or whatever) is still okay-ish in my book (then again, I openly confess that I like XTORT..), but the problem with MDFMK is the same as with Slick Idiot (by En Esch and Günther Schulz) - while the songs hold a lot of potential, they're still rather generic and... ultimately boring. Very much like KMFDM's post-Adios material. Yes, there are individual songs which stand out, but I'm still a bit indetermined if it's only because of the rest of the songs are so mediocre. -Juha

I thought Slick Idiot was the weaker of both projects. Additionally, I think you can hear an MDFMK/KMFDM influence from Tim Skold on the last Marylin Manson album. Which was a good thing in my opinion. ..::// Thomas Touzimsky "Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are good is like expecting the bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian." I must admit, this discussion's leaving me a bit 'lost at sea'. Is this the point when I can start putting imaginary band names into the conversation? Was Cleveage Anchor better than Arthur Dent's Jockstrap? I always liked the MILF EP! :-) John ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Touzimsky" <tto@klf.de> To: "All bound for Mu-Mu Land." <klf@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, May 19, 2006 8:20 PM Subject: Re: [KLF] [OT] KMFDM (was: Transit Kings News)

weird, i thought MDFMK was one of the biggest disappointments of all time, and i don't even consider myself a KMFDM fan (the few people i know who are fans agreed with that assessment). i think the first two or three are the best - the last one i liked was angst, though symbols sounded like it was going back towards form. seemed that in the 90's and on, KMFDM wrote one good song for every album, and then rewrote it nine crappy times to fill out the record. :P -- micah stupak micah@benthic.cc www.benthic.cc benthic recordings - soundings from unexplored places oblique strategy: remove ambiguities and convert to specifics
