Re: RE: [KLF] klf stories
That was quite a find! My collection story isn't quite so impressive, but it's still dear to me - finding a huge pile of old vinyl, CDs and cassettes in a second-hand record shop in Dundee and managing to fill out half my collection with it. I first encountered the KLF in 1988 with the Timelords, and then began buying up their stuff when I went to university in 1992. John

My favourite was walking into a CD shop in Vancouver while on holiday and seeing that they had a UK copy Of the What Time is Love Story CD for about a Fiver. I'd been looking for it in the UK for years without Success.
Cheers

I found SHAG TIMES on Cd for £7.50 in Manchester a couple of year ago. I was extremely pleased with that! M
I actually got the JAMMS Shag Times for $1.99 in a bin of CD singles. Since only the first few tracks were listed on the back, they thought it was an EP. I about crapped when I saw it. I may have let out a less than manly squeek. When those Ebay prices were really high, I actually unloaded it for about 100 times that price, hehe. jr ----------------------------------------- Jeremiah "Spassvogel" Rickert 6'7" 320 lbs of Dr. Pepper and Pez Candy. -----------------------------------------
Was always amused/bemused by The JAMMS stuff with all the Anderton graffiti and Abba shenanigans but didn't go a bundle on the music. Picked up Whitney Joins The JAMMS for 50p as a speculative purchase and thought it fun but moved on. Fell for them in a big way with the PT series and loved them ever since. Best find? 1993 and flatmate comes home with a bag of records he found in a cupboard at work that were going to be thrown out. Bunch of stuff on Hut Records (early Smashing Pumpkins and Moose) and ... 008R (with Scott Piering sticker on sleeve and press release), Chill Out (pink label promo in finished sleeve and couple of press releases including the "What is Ambient House?" one), What Time Is Love Story LP (and press release) and KSTJ 12" (with Poster). All of them mint as they left the factory and obviously never been looked at twice let alone played. He worked for a small time editing company in Soho and they may have been dropped round with a view to using them in an advert (I cannot think of another earthly reason why they were in the cupboard otherwise). I had to get shot of the first two last year to get some money together ... but at least they went to a good home. The same way I got the first Meat Beat Manifesto CD (on the CD it shows 4 tracks, plus "(Pt. 1-4)". The record store guy thought it was a single. FInally I bought TWO copies of that early Wax Trax-TVT rarity...each for a price of a 4-track single...
