Thanks for the responses to my query about the Liberation Loophole - all is good now. I was looking for better quality rips of the Kalevala singles than the crackly ones I made of my own copies - has anyone got good quality FLACs they might like to post? Apologies if I'm having a dumb day and missed them on the LL. Mark

Well..some of them are just shit, but some of them are really good, Blizzard King and Aurora Borealis for examples. For me as a Finnish, this also has a bit personal connection, as they were mixed and recorded in Helsinki, Finland, at Finnvox studios. They also used Finnish artists and singers on those recordings, Aija Puurtinen for example (probably somebody else too): http://www.musicfinland.com/sml/muusikko/aija.html In that article she tells that she met Drummond and Manning at Finnvox studios, when she was recording her solo album. Bill and Mark were mixing their Bad Wisdom soundtrack there and they wanted her to sing some backing vocals (to "Candy"). They loved her, so they asked her to sing whole song. After two weeks she received phone call from B&M as Candy was "a hit" at UK. They wanted her to sing Supermodel. After that they wrote new history for Aija, as a estonian artist Kristina Bruuk and she received specific instructions to take promotional pictures at the Helsinki railway station. But interesting part in that article is that later that year (1997), B&M offered a whole album for Aija Puurtinen to sing as a Kristina Bruuk, and according to her, that album was also fully recorded. It also says that album and Kristina Bruuk were premiered Dec 1997 at Finnish institute in London.. More information: http://www.phinnweb.org/5HT/kalevala.html http://www.probe-records.com/KALEVALA/page.html I've been trying to find out, who were working at the Finnvox studios back then but no luck. I'll keep on searching. I could also try to contact Aija herslef, if she has any good stories to share. Some unreleased recordings (from http://koti.mbnet.fi/wdd/HBTB3.htm): KALA007 (unissued): Kristina Bruuk: Supermodel / Dracula's Daughter feat. Kristina Bruuk: Candy (available at least as a promotional c-cassette edition issued in early 1997) KALA PROMO97 V/A: KALEVALA SINGLES (CD) Dracula's Daughter feat. Kristina Bruuk: Candy / Candy (2. version) -- anttil.
