Thanks for the upload, Darren. Seems like IGUN is one of those tracks that just lends itself to parody - probably because it's such a deceptively simple song. So, now we have G-Force "It's Brill Up North" and Radsonic/Hardcore Outlaws' "It's Weird Out West" (does anyone know if the band are actually called Radsonic or Hardcore Outlaws?). Not forgetting the Mad Jocks (a list of Scottish towns, briefly inserted into a megamix) and our own John Lummey's "It's Grim On the Docks". And then the Living Carpets' "Anthem (Peace in the House)" So ... that's five at least ... any more out there?

Hey,
Years ago I joined this list, browsed it for a bit, had a few e-mails exchanged with John Milne and went away. One of the things I promised John was that I would upload a Geordie cover version of 'Its Grim Up North' that I had, but I lost the record. I've since moved house and its turned up again! I don't know much about it really. I bought it from Volume Records in Sunderland in late 1991. Its pretty rubbish to be fair, but the end of it where it turns into Blaydon Races instead of Jerusalem might raise a titter!
Excuse the pops and crackles of the vinyl - since the coal mines shut here we haven't be able to afford decent pressing plants. . .

Enjoy!
Darren.
There's the X$X one (also from 1991) 'Beil Feirste-What Time is Love' which was released only in N.Ireland and kicked off the X$X=KLF rumours that still persist among those who have suspended logic in favour of PSI. I don't have it. John Milne <john@highlandland.fsnet.co.uk> wrote: Thanks for the upload, Darren. i always kinda assumed the hardcore outlaws was an early incarnation of the outlawdjs, who (until relatively recently at least) dj'ed at a club night here in sunny bristol called Giant Robot, where coincidentally Jimmy made a rare DJ appearance a couple of years back...hmmm they were also of course responsible for the mashup compilation 'Too Many Fools Following Too Many Rules' which included the rather cool 'You Know What Time Is Love' (WTIL vs. 'Know How' by Young MC) and have a website somewhere there was also an X$X connection with Bristol back in the day, I remember seeing posters for gigs or events by X$X around bristol in the mid 90s, never went to one though. i think some were made to look very KLF too. when i dug around a bit for X$X references a few years back i found other links to bristol too (i think there was at least one domain registered there), perhaps Ray could confirm or confuse... i never heard of the 'Belfast' version of IGUN Ray mentioned though, even though I had a few cuttings regarding x$x from the music mags back then. other than the tracks that had samples on the x$x site for a while, some of which were sent to John Peel among other DJs, i only knew about 'the black room' CD appearing on some shelves tbc.
