Blimey, it's been a few years since I've posted anything on this list. Anyway, the obvious place to look for UK music copyright info is the MCPS - the people who collect the royalties for record companies..... http://www.mcps-prs-alliance.co.uk/aboutcopyright/ Basically, copyright in the European Union ends 70 years after the death of the author. So, unless something terrible happens, you're probably looking at least 110 years before you'll be able to legally copy B&J's work! Regardless of the fact that B&J have deleted their back catalogue (Ie, stopped further production), they still own the copyright of their material and therefore could take action against anyone infringing that copyright.......if they wanted to (but it would seem unlikely and extremely hypocritical if they did!!). Of course the copyright of a lot of their material is complicated further because of the samples of other artistes - OK, so B&J might not give a toss if someone makes a copy of 1987 - but would Abba's lawyers be so happy?
