Did anyone see the programme on Channel 4 (in the UK) on Saturday about the different ways that people have got records to number one in the UK charts? One section all about The KLF (and The TimeLords) - everyone was very complimentary about them - way ahead of their time etc etc.... Craig (...in an attempt to generate some traffic on this list!)

Quite interesting to see that they are still remembered for their music and these "ahead of their time" opinions... but who exactly was "everybody" you mention ? Had no chance to watch it here... cy@ Thomas
Off the top of my head I can't remember who was being interviewed about them, apart from Pete Waterman (not exactly an authority!) and an ex KLF studio engineer called "Spike". Will check the video and get back to you. BTW - I have the whole programme on VHS if anyone is interested....Quite willing to send to someone (preferably in Europe) who can encode it and then provide the webspace and bandwidth to disseminate to interested parties. I could do an MPEG1/2 or DivX Rip of it (well I would go for MPEG2 as base and some lower-bandwith versions) if noone else volunteers. Bandwith and Server is available too. How long was the report? The entire programme was about 90 mins (minus commercials), the KLF slot was probabaly about five or six. How big does that end up being when encoded? Adrian Gschwend wrote:

if we take VHS-like quality as base I would take about 1.2MBit/sec that would end up at about 800MB for 90 minutes (MPEG). If we do a divx of it later it might be half of it with not a lot of quality loss. cu Adrian -- Adrian Gschwend @ OS/2 Netlabs ICQ: 22419590 ktk@netlabs.org ------- The OS/2 OpenSource Project: http://www.netlabs.org
I would like a copy of this file. Besides all the talk about digitising and compressing the video file of this, I was out at a gig on Saturday night so if anybody sees any mention of it being repeated on UK Television (Channel 4 or E4) please could they send a quite message to the list? I'd like to catch it again if it's repeated. Thanks.
