Hi guys. I have been off this list for a few years but as usual, every so often my interest in The KLF is renewed and I go on a KLF binge. A little background, I have worked at a U.S. based reggae record company since 1995, and I've hosted reggae radio programs since 1992. I've always loved KLF's reggae influence, especially on tracks like "No More Tears." Just found out it is Black Steel from Mad Professor's Robotics who sings on "Justified and Ancient." Well I was chatting online with Mad Professor today and asked him about Wanda Dee, who is of course the supposed singer on "No More Tears," "3 AM Eternal," "Build a Fire," etc. Well Mad Professor tells me he does not think the singer is Wanda Dee, he thinks it's Maxine Harvey. I did see her name on the credits for The White Room CD. It would make sense that Wanda is the gruff sounding voice on The White Room CD and Maxine is the sweet, soulful voice. Does anybody know?
Hi there, Wanda Dee is sampled (!) only on "What time is love ?" ('I wanna see you sweat!') and "Last Train to Trancentral" ('Come on boy, d'you wanna ride ?'). Maxine's sweet voice can be heard on most of the White Room tracks, especially on "Make it rain", "Build a fire" and "No more tears" (where she's accompanied by Black Steel). The third female singer you might notice is sampled as well, but was originally recorded for The KLF anyway. 'KLF, aha aha' and 'Take me to the church of The KLF' are both sung by P.P. Arnold and taken from the original, unreleased mix of "Church of The KLF". Hope that helps. --- Thomas Touzimsky same shit // different day ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joshua B" <joshuab@bostonreggae.com> To: <klf@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 12, 2002 9:42 PM Subject: [KLF] Maxine Harvey Hi guys.
