For what it is worth - buried deep in the xml is the following line : www.transitkings.com/TransitKings/Podcast/7E59CB81-C33C-4210-B424 -7B1E26ABFEBC_files/Live%20Podcast%20No.1.m4a paste that into your browser - then either play the resulting file or download it to your hard-drive .. it is 29.3 megs s. Quoting RMStringer <RMStringer1971@comcast.net>: "I have it and can make it available for all on this list." You know who else has it? The Transit Kings. You know who they've made it available for already? Anyone not only on this list, but also in the entire world, who has downloading capabilities. Obviously your offer is completely well-intentioned and not in any way a self-aggrandising non sequitur, but I think the band have it covered, champ.
Quoting Nick King <nickwking@ntlworld.com>: "Fantastic stuff - never got the web pages to work - either QuickTime froze or a nasty XML page appeared - me thinks that they don't actually test these pages on PC's (or at least not via Internet Explorer)..." The problem isn't untested web pages, it's that the links posted were a) to the iTunes Music Store, for which you need iTunes installed, and b) to an XML file, which is pretty much designed to bring up "a nasty XML page", but is also handy for anyone who doesn't have iTunes, didn't notice the first time it was posted to the list months ago before other dude found it on iTunes, and wants to be able to watch out or have an RSS reader watch out for future Transit Kings podcasts.
the rss xml file contains metadata which links you to a file, it could be an MP3, MOV, etc - the xml file doesn't take you to iTunes, and you don't even need iTunes to listen to a Podcast (but it's the easiest way) - you DO need iTunes to listen to an m4a. if you want to find out how to listen to podcasts without using iTunes, there are plenty of Podcast RSS aggregators you can probably find at podcast.net or other places... No, but the phobos dot apple slash webstore dot object slash numeric gibberish link that someone else posted does, which is why I reposted the transitkings.com one (which does contain the .m4a- suffixed link - but yeah, I forgot that it was an m4a, it's been a couple of months). I'd rather use an aggregator or just read raw xml than subscribe to something on iTunes, and thought it'd be helpful for anyone else who'd missed it the first time and would likewise have that bit more control over their podcast downloading.
