Hi there , as I was there I thought I would tell you all a funny story about the Fatboy Slim Brighton Beach gig. (Begin name dropping and showing off:). I actually ended up carrying John Digweed's records on stage for him because he said , I quote, come on I've got a bad back!!! My girl friend had already pointed out that he had a test pressing under his arm with KLF written on it, so I of course asked him what it was. He wouldn't tell me, but I was quite glad that he didn't, all he said was 'look , I spent ages doing it, it'll be a good surprise'. So there I was happily at the side of the stage waiting for 'the record'. You couldn't miss it when it came on: it was basically a prog house remix of the original version of What Time is Love, with the 'Right now' portion of the 'Right now it time to kick out the jams' sample from the re-release of WTI repeated a lot over the top. He had also beefed up the bassline a bit where it just 'stabs in a bit'. The record was pretty fucking good to tell you the truth with nice builds and all that kind of thing. Seriously doubt it will ever see the light of day, might be on the Beach Boutique 2 lp they are trying to rush release but I seriously doubt it. Diggers was the best Dj at the event anyway, much better than fatboy, and he played Underworlds 'Dark Train' out of WTIL and then followed that up with an epic mix of 'Cowgirl' which took in both his version and the original, and THEN he played 'Song of Life' , can't remember which one though 'cos by that time I was hammered! Hope this info is mildly interesting to any obsessives out there, I suppose it's another mix to track down. The 9'19 mix of WTIL by John Digweed. See you at the foundry, maybe, I am the one with the hair. Peter
