Bill wrote somewhere in the last few years (45? The Love Reaction best-of sleevenotes? Fucked By Rock?) that Z had finished his half of the book several years before that, and that he was nowhere close. Guess that still holds.
I think that he`s slightly resigned himself to the fact that he`s mostly going to be touring with "A Smell of Sulphur in the Wind/The Smell of Money Underground" for at least the next three to four years (according to his own estimate). Although, about 2,500 of the 20,000 sections have been sold so far. Nice article and photos at: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2002/06/27/badrum27 .xml He`s been to Nottingham as well as Glasgow and Bristol with it recently (and Cardiff sometime...) The only way to check on forthcoming dates seems to check the net every so often! It looks as if he's back there soon too (despite someone stealing the only copy of his press test pressing of The Man record there last time - here by the looks of it: http://www.nowthatswhaticallart.org.uk/openingparty.htm): http://www.phoenix.org.uk/cafe.html Bill Drummond @ City Galleryn Wed 20 - Thur 21 Nov 7pm - 9pm £2.50/1.50 conc, available from Phoenix Arts Box Office In 1995 Bill Drummond bought Richard Long’s photograph/text work A Smell of Sulphur in the Wind, as a once in a lifetime present to himself for going through with the K Foundation’s burning of a million pounds.
