John,
I don't have the CD but I do have the Possum LP of "The History of the Jams"
Hi Caroline, Finally checked my CD - which is of course conversant with what Paul was saying. The version of "All You Need is Love" the Possum CD omits the "Kick Out The Jams" and Beatles intro (unlike the TVT issue which keeps it in). Is this the same with the vinyl. Also, for some reason, the Possum CD doesn't have "Whitney Joins the JAMs" on it - is the vinyl like that, too? The inclusion of "Disaster Fund Collection" more than makes up for that though. (Am I the only one, incidentally, who thinks this track is head and shoulders above many of the "White Room" demo tracks from 18 months later? "Who Killed the JAMs" really is a great album!) Just like the TVT issue, Possum also includes an instrumental version of "The Porpoise Song" rather than the vocal version. On "Shag Times" it's one of the "BPM" tracks that form tracks 8-14 - can't remember which one. Anyway, if I can think of any more differences I'll ask. Suffice is to say, you're lucky to have a copy of the Possum a;bum - one of their rarest releases (arguably more so than JAMSLP4 and "Space").
