Count me in! I have a pristine "Who Killed The Jams?" which I transferred to digital, 1987, CDs of Shag Times & WTIL Story, grey vinyl Grim Up North, TOTP 3 AM 7", January: WTIL, the Japanese boxes, all the released PVC rarities (would have to ask him about sharing these first as he's been a true friend and I don't want to cut into his action). And much more than this.
Two years ago PVC gave me a partial inventory of what he salvaged from
Jimmy and the doubters would be STUNNED at what exists. I've pestered the guy for a full invenrory and he refuses to answer, but the guy has a good thing going and I'm positive he's not using the proceeds to enrich himself.
Anyway, happy to share wirh any and all. I'll never sell this stuff so I don't care about tanking my own ebay prices LOL!
Listen, all I was trying to say yesterday is I really love this music and would like to hear more of it. It's their art and if they don't wish to share that's fine. Howwever, most don't even remember their antics. Every five years or so I come across an article in the UK press basically reminding people who they were and why the mattered. They pulled-off one of the greatest rock-indie-punk-art specticles in history and the average 20 year old is much more aware of the Pet Shop Boys & Erasure than the KLF. They should be timeless legends, but unlike the Stones or The Beatles the hits were pop hits and not rock hits, there were no untimely deaths, and their ideas became a little too out there for the mainstream
I'm not saying they should go on Oprah or reform (on the contrary, they should never reform at least musically). But I think it would really help their solo efforts if they made some public media appearances and just reminded people who they were. There's no need to answer every question and solve every mystery (truth be told, all the true fans know there was no plan anyway...it was all just synchronicity and temporary genious).
I happen to know for a fact that twice as much was recorded or partially recorded as was released. Again, it's their art and it's their right to do what they want. However, the years have passed, their statement has stood, but few remember.
I for one would be pleased to make a hefty donation to a worthy cause in exchange for some more KLF goodness.
Whilst I doubt signicant portions of the finished Black Room exists, I'm going to try and get a hold of Stent and see what he has. Maybe we'll get to hear some of it in exchange for supporting a worthy cause?
Just some thoughts.
Again, count me in for your archive project.
Dan
Thanks Dan! (and thanks again as I was the original person who asked for K Cera Cera.)
This is a bit like I had in mind a while back when I suggested we try and collect as much of the stuff as possible and make Arkive v2. There are definitely a number of tracks that are hard to find, especially the vinyl-only ones that have been “loved” perhaps a few too many times to sound decent. ;) I’m still willing and able to try and sort this out…if I made a master list of tracks and put it on a Google spreadsheet where people could sign up to record tracks for collation and storage would we have any takers?
