the liner notes from "just say da" (volume IV of "just say yes", on which it is (was?) also available, originally released in 1990) describe the remix as "a version you won't find anywhere else"
As far as I'm aware, the "St Petersburg" mix was only available on "Just Say Da" for years and years. Then the "Unearthed" compilation came out, with it as the first track. Strangely, it's not listed as the remix, and picking up the album I thought it was the original mix (which sounds very like the Lightning Seeds). A planned CD and 12" single never appeared (with a second Drummond remix of "Space flower") but the cover of the abandoned single can be found here: http://www.copefan.com/skyray/archive/ws2.htm. Scroll down and you can see it. It was due for release in early 1990. Drummond's links with the Wild Swans/Paul Simpson are still strong. He wrote some of the sleeve notes to last year's "Incandescent" compilation. And also allowed the Zoo-era material to be included (saying "do what you ***king well like with it!"). The Wild Swans later label, Sire, weren't quite so friendly - and their material was not included. It was the compiler of the "Incandescent" compilation who first told me of the Kingboy remix of "Spaceflower". Hopefully it can see the light of day some time - there is talk of a Wild Swans box set, including everything over their chequered 10-year career.
