maybe they got the test presses done and then decided not to release at that point? 6 was the number of test presses done by (the 2 or 3 months bankrupt) Damont Audio in Hayes. ----- Original Message ----- From: Simon Daw <simon@antmusic.fsnet.co.uk> To: <KLF@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, November 02, 2003 11:16 AM Subject: [KLF] Small quantities
I was wondering why the KLF used to produce such small quantities of some of their promos - such as 3, 6 or 20 off for example. Why didn't they produce acetates (aka dub plates) as this would be cheaper than producing full production stampers and then only pressing such a small number of vinyl records. Acetates only play a few times before they deteriorate, but this was (is?) quite common practice, to try out new tracks in the clubs. Or was it just another KLF prank to upset the collectors?!
