interesting stuff- i have not really being following the ins and outs of all of this, but i would like to question 1 thing... DAMONT was one pressing plant, Adrenalin was another (Which later became PR, then Alphamagic, all of which went bust) so to have Damont scratched out would suggest that the plates were from Damont then moved to adrenalin... unless KLF stopped using Damont you would never do this as they all charge to remove plates- so what i am saying is that anything moved from Damont to Adrenalin is a bit suspect to say the least. Having just had a quick look at run out grooves they do seem to use both plants, rather worryingly my KLF 8R has Pr p on it and i picked that up at a record fair sometime between 97 and 98? If people get a chance could they check thier 8R(s) to see if theirs are different (as i seem to have a genuine cover but the vinyl itself maybe dodgy). ----- Original Message ----- From: dan@danhutchins.com To: All bound for Mu-Mu Land. Sent: Friday, March 02, 2007 2:56 AM Subject: [KLF] And Chris Peel says... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hey all, Well, after the Love Trance discussion exploded again around Christmas time, I got in touch with Chris Peel regarding the authenticity of the "nr" run-out grooved Love Trance 12 inches. Chris related to me that his significant other gave birth to a little girl in January and he doesn't have time to spend chatting with the list these days, but he is still a member and monitors the conversation. Anyway, with his permission, I'm passing this info along to the list... The guy showed me his Adrenalin pass (which could have been mocked up using Paintshop Pro, of course) and he also showed me a stack of KLF records, including: 2 x KLF004R white labels 1 x KLF004M single-sided 2 x KLF006T Fully labelled up and in p/s 1 x KLF007T in luminous yellow vinyl - labelled up but in standard "KLF" sleeve 1 x KLF008T in sea-green sleeve with "E. Train to Trancentral" on it 1 x KLF 92 PROMO 2 clear vinyl 1 x KLF 92 PROMO 3 4 x KLF USA 4 7" multicoloured vinyl (actually they were all in various orange/yellow/grey colours) As well as all these, he had this bundle of KLF006T's which he claimed were a 'secondary run' arranged by B&J but still produced at the plant - presumably off different plates though. I checked the various records above for the usual giveaways (machine-printed run-outs, missing ADRENALIN wording, etc.) and they all appeared genuine - I even got to buy a fair few of them off him for what I considered to be seriously good prices. I bought the bundle of 006Ts (I think there were 7 of them when I actually counted) as a job lot. Now, if you're thinking this all smacks of a scam then I'd agree - it does - _but_ this guy had some seriously rare stuff so either: a) he's a collector and he made these extra 006T's himself b) he's genuine and he made these extra 006T's himself c) he's genuine I'm still with (c) - he was really down to earth, didn't look like he needed the money, wasn't trying to force me to buy the items, and actually sold me some really rare - unbootlegged - releases for a fraction of their usual selling price. As for the people dismissing it as a fake - there are a number on the list who don't believe it's a KLF record, period - even if it has the ADRENALIN and scratched out DAMONT markings on it! I've been collecting KLF records for over 15 years now and I'm in the camp that believes it's genuinue and that there's even some pressed up 007T's out there...
