Simon,
Tim had to have a hundred of these pressed rather than the initially announced 50 as that was the minimum number, so if you email him I think that he still has some available.
Back in the early 1990s, I made a digital rip of "Who Killed the JAMs?" from a pristine vinyl LP copy (that had been cleaned and anti-staticed) to mini-disc. The result was a copy that sounded of CD quality and Tim's release sounds very similar--a CD made from a clearly analog source.
This version that Tim has released is from some type of original studio tape that he received directly from Jimmy. After listening through it several times I've noticed a few things:
1. There seems to be no difference in terms of content between Tim's CD and the original LP.
2. The sound quality is superb. If you crank the volume very high, there is some audible tape hiss. This version essentially sounds like an LP except there are no vinyl artifacts (static, skips, etc.). It is obvious that this disc is exactly as advertised, a perfect copy taken straight from a studio tape with no further manipulation. Although I haven't run it through any software, I can tell that it hasn't been altered in any way (no compression, no volume adjustments, no "de-noising" software application, etc.).
Considering that "Who Killed the JAMs?" was mastered with LP/cassette and not CD in mind, this is hands down the best copy you are ever going to hear--anywhere--ever. As it seems that Tim did not attempt to "improve" the recording, one of course is always free to load it onto their computer and no-noise the tape hiss, increase the volume, or apply whatever changes one cares to, but personally I don't know why anybody would.

The Whitney mixes:
1. The tracks themselves sound much louder than the "Who Killed the JAMs?" CD.
2. The first version sounds to be only a slightly different mix to the released version, so I'm guessing this was one of the final mixes considered for the single release.
3. The second mix is radically different, more of a "dub" or "instrumental" mix similar to the ones released on "Shag Times." A sample of somebody saying "Fuck you" becomes the hook later in the track. I'm guessing that this may have been a remix they were considering for "Shag Times."

OK i was away way too long and totally missed PVC's Who Killed The JAMs CD

Can anyone offer a mini review of this, how it differs to the commercial release?

And a review of those bonus Whitney mixes would be cool too!
