maybe everybody is getting confused as they were probably trying to order the release 12" and got the old grey ones repressed, that may explain the anger and returning them, returning them could result in more copies being around as pressing plant employees may do the same as appearing's people!! :-> ----- Original Message ----- From: Maarten Bouwes <bouwes@hotmail.com> To: <klf@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, June 30, 2003 5:15 PM Subject: Re: [KLF] Re: Runout request!
My copy also contains "JA".
I think I am missing the point here...

So, correct me if i am wrong. Due to the fact that 2 were missing, the lot was to be brought back to the pressingplant and had to be utterly destroyed?
that can't be true as there are several copies floating around with only "it's grim up north" in the run-out groove.
also, it seems doubtful that sallie got pissed off just because the catalogue number was missing in the run-out groove. if she *was* upset, why did they let some amateur (bill? jimmy? obviously not a pressing plant employee) scratch the catalogue number into the pressing plate? every person normally working at a pressing plant would know that everything has to be scratched in backwards (including the "J").
What happened then with the master?
the same master was used for the later pressings, only JAMS28T (or rather LAMS28T) was scratched onto the pressing plate before the second run. compare the "IT'S GRIM UP NORTH" message on both, doesn't it look exactly the same?
cheers
Robert
