Tonight, BBC Scotland News had a small news snippet
on the town of Corby, in Northamptonshire, and how they will tomorrow be
celebrating Burns Night.
An odd town, second generation Englishmen still
talk with a Scottish accent, and you can still buy Scottish stuff in shops (like
Irn Bru drinks).
This was the town Bill and his dad Jack(and mum and
sister, presumably) moved to in the very late 1950s, moving from the
Scottish village of Newton Stewart, and Jack Drummond preached at St. Ninians
Church.
I don't know much about Corby, but this "Scottish
ex-pats living in England" atmosphere intrigues me.
Anyone know anything about the town?
