The CD "This is Not What Chill Out is About follows on from a similar This is not...SPACE from earlier this year which was listenable but when compared to the original Jimmy / Alex version that became available it was kicked into the long grass. I've played it three times and would as from now much prefer the Jimmy solo version and that with Alex P's bits!

Where I'm cautious about this new "Chill Out" is A) Can you really beat the original and B) The sales technique being used seems to be a bit dubious to me in that the Space CD was announced, then pulled to anguish and sorrow supposedly on legal grounds then after a pause with a bit of James Bond secrecy it made available for one day only...I'll repeat that AVAILABLE FOR ONE DAY ONLY..buy it know at £20 quid or miss the bus...shhhhh!...it was then trumpeted as being a big seller and then a few weeks back on the basis of its popularity it was made available again. Silly me for being taken in. The same applies to an earlier release from 2013 in that the first 50 people to stay up to buy it after midnight on a set date got a free limited edition numbered minidisc. I was one of the lucky buyers. Lucky Lucky Lucky, I should be so.....I was lucky again a few months later when it turned out that another run of the numbered minidiscs had been produced! Twice bitten three times shy! I'll send the spare copy to the first person to email me free of charge!

Ignoring the Recovered and Remastered series prices as seen on that chancers paradise Ebay, for anyone wanting good clean physical copies of obscure KLF material there have been some gems in the series and whilst I'm at it a particularly good release of new takes on old stuff but with This is Chill Out...I'm going to wait and see what the independent reviews say and even then, like I said the original LP stands as a much loved masterpiece!

Steve

Can anybody here share some details about this release? Like where it came from, if it's any good, or how I can get a hold of it?

Thanks.

Its a really nice mix done by Martin Ward... They appear on eBay every so often but very over-priced... All future releases will be available to previous purchasers only....

So, a million-quid question for me regarding releases like this and others
which have been only made available to previous purchasers from the same
label/artist: how do people find out about these things before they "go
underground"? I would assume anybody making and selling weird KLF-related
stuff would get a mention here and/or want to get a mention here, but,
nope: nothing until it's too late to get in.

(Only a little bitter,)
