That sounds really 'american'-like. It's the freedom of the author to create a game the way he wants.
So you create a game, and after releasing it, a few thousand people come back to you and say it was crap. Wouldn't that make you think about your game ?

I know that they voted. Me was even part of them, and not for the first time. But no matter who or how often you vote, it just don't get any better. Just like RMStringer's ftp posts.
So how many people does it take in your opinion to reason a change, no matter what kind of ? 10 ? 20 ? 100 ? And does anyone got the right to determine that number ?
