FYI, I'm dealing with this as follows: 1) I've added an "X-Archive: encrypt" header to all outgoing list messages. This signals gmane to hide the poster's address on messages archived in their system. 2) I've emailed Lars and asked him to hide addresses on all the older messages already in their archives, and to remove the messages completely if their system can't do that for some reason. 3) If they need to remove all the old messages, I'll send them fresh copies of the list archives so they can reload them into their system with address obfuscation turned on. While it's possible that spammers have harvested peoples' addresses from gmane, keep in mind that anyone can subscribe to the list and simply harvest addresses from the postings themselves. Your best bet for eliminating spam is to use an email provider that lets you set up multiple addresses and to use different addresses for each site or list you sign up with. That'll let you discard any addresses that start to receive spam without having to change your address everywhere else. {T:klf@mailman.xmission.com} {F:list-admin@studio-nibble.com}
