Right :) For converting Apple Lossless and many other formats on my Windows 7 PC (yeah I know, MS sucks and stuff...), I use foobar2000. It's Open Source and there are loads of components availabe - e.g. decoder for ALAC or MonkeyAudio. So I'm also happy with any lossless audio format as I can convert anything to FLAC myself.
(The default user interface looks crappy, but there are many possibilities to customize it as well).
