Maybe used for the tape master ... When i did work experience, duplicating tapes, a tape was run from one end to the other with both sides copied at once. One being recorded backwards. Maybe for some strange reason it is run from a tape master so as not to go beyond the analogue boundaries which tapes have due to the natural compression. ? It's not as far fetched as you'd imagine. I remember the HD-DVD vs Blu-ray wars were effectively over when the major P0rn studios said they would be exclusively using Blu-ray. I risked a Google search on "Porn blu ray wars" and several (SFW) articles came up confirming this. Never underestimate the power of the worlds oldest profession ... "In the consumer market, however, VHS won out - the story I've always understood (which could be complete rubbish!) is that porn rentals chose VHS over betamax, thus people bought VHS players to play porn! :-p As I say, probably complete and utter tosh and something that QI (UK TV programme) would rubbish in a few seconds! :-p"
