Day 2: Madrugda Eterna (Club mix)

Because you demanded it: Madrugda Eterna (Club mix) Ripped from Eternity 23 boot and not the legendary (times 20 maybe) Eterna 1. Simon has heard the version from Eterna 1 and says the sound quality is much superior, but this is the only 12" of this rarity I could find. Going through my files this morning, I discovered that I ripped this thing an amazing 11 times on a Saturday night last Feb. Two things were going through my mind: 1. I really love this new computer preamp I just purchased 2. God, this record sounds like shit So I was doing a bit of research on the interwebs and many audiophiles believe that vinyl is very durable, so durable in fact that you can truly clean the hell out it and often improve the audio quality; some record enthusiasts actually clean their records in the kitchen sink with dish soap believe it or not. So I basically would rip this record, clean it with my Discwasher system, rip it again, clean it again, etc. as an experiment. Here are two different rips: rip 2 (as I can't find rip 1, must have deleted it) and rip 11 both in WAV format. I must have recorded this at the exact right level as Audacity doesn't think it needs any amplification, but I did run both rips through the excellent Chris's compressor plugin to give it a more modern sound. Once again, I have the original, unaltered rips so if anyone would prefer these, or prefer a different format please let me know and I will provide :-) My question to you guys is: after listening to both rips, did I damage the recording with so many cleanings, improve the sound quality, or is there no difference? Truth be told I don't know why I thought this recording was so awful at the time because listening to the rips today it sounds pretty darn good for a second-hand bootleg record. Love Trance with love...

As promised, here are my rips of the Love Trance 12" in one zip file as wavs. I didn't really mess with them except for optimizing the volume in Audacity a little without clipping (LT hardly at all .01% and WTIL by about 1 db, no clipping). My only "rariry" (Down at the Zoo)

Whats happening in these days are the most interresting thing since 1997. The only thing I can contribute with is the first record Bill ever appeared on."Down at the Zoo" 7'' EP with "Those Naughty Lumps" (OP EP 1002). The title tracks is co-written by Bill (I thinks he plays guitar on it to).I know this is not the "Extended Moody Boys Mix" of "Go To Sleep" (I just made that one up, so don't go out looking for it!!).But still, I haven't ever seen this record in any discography related to the KLF. If anyone is interested then I might try to make a rip of it. (can't promise when it will be done, or what quality it will be in). Ulrik Brandt Hansen

KLF Sharing Days 2: White Room OST sourced lossless w/ bonus tracks

http://www.fileswap.com/dl/0V5O2tqt/White_Room_OST.zip.html Again in Apple Lossless so it would fit on a free file sharing service The remastered original White Room OST sourced from one of ten lossless masters plus five lossless sourced bonus tracks (and maybe a hidden one in there). All of the bonuses relate to the main album, two sourced from the KSTJ single, one from a 1989 DJ remix CD comp (The Build a Fire mix that has a lot of extra Bill vocals, better than a standard remix IMO), one from "Ultra Rare Tracks" bootleg, The extended KSTJ, truth be told I tried making a better rip from my KSTJ 12" but couldn't get a better rip than what's on this boot) and the last from an earlier White Room boot that was probably sourced originally from vinyl but sounds excellent. I was one of the lucky 10 to receive a lossless copy of the remaster from Simon. A remastered JAMs LP to follow tomorrow! Note from the remaster engineer: *Author: *Simon *Date: *2002-01-27 11:43 -500 *To: *klf *Subject: *[KLF] 'Remaster' of unreleased White Room OST The unreleased White Room OST has just been 'remastered'. The source tape used was one that is far superior to any previously heard copy. It was taken directly from an original promo copy - so it's probably only 2 generations away from the master. The tape was sampled in 24bits at 96KHz and all audio processing was carried out in this format for optimum quality before being converted to the standard CD format. The correct stereo orientation and running speed was ascertained from an original copy of the KSTJ CD single and noise reduction was applied sparingly to reduce the slight hiss present on the source tape. The results are absolutely outstanding - probably as good as what a commercial copy might have sounded like. This version has none of the faults present in existing copies - there are no glitches in 'No More Tears' and 'The White Room', the end of 'Born Free' is intact and there are no clicks and pops at the end of tracks. This needs to be heard by everyone on the list! If you want one and are prepared to make it available to other list members (and preferably you live in the UK) - please get in touch with me off the list. There are 10 copies complete with artwork, 8 of which are remaining. Simon

But for my part, I would love to get hold of some high quality FLACs of stuff that's only available on vinyl since I don't have the necessary equipment to do really good quality vinly rips of my records myself. So I would vote for a kind of "completist-high-quality-fan-collection-project". My target would be a more or less complete KLF collection in the best available quality on my computer.
