Let's hope you get a reply, Simon. :-) I think I've said this before, but I'm sure there's hours and hours of unreleased mixes, new tracks, demos, DJ sets, half-formed samples for mixing, and musical false starts, ALL on Jimmy's DAT tapes (which, according to Bill in "45" anyway, he has a complete collection of, right back to the JAMs days, kept in a box). From "Mommy Don't" and the flamenco "3 AM Eternal" demo with Graham Lee, to "The Sheriff of Mu Mu County" and the original "E-Train to Trancentral", these DATs presumably are a goldmine for KLF fans. Maybe this "Evil Edit" is from one of these DATs too. What we really need is a Mark Lewisohn type "Complete Sessions" book, detailing everything Jimmy and Bill did in the studio from January 1987 right through to their last collaborations together ten years later. Actually, the 23rd anniversary would 2010 ... lots of potential "A Space Odyssey Two" puns for the titles! I still think 2007 is probably a better anniversary ("it was 20 years ago today, that the Mu Mu taught the band to play" etc), but if we don't get things together in time, it's worth thinking about ... And the scarey thing is, of course, it's only 9 years away from the 23rd anniversary of the K Foundation dumping their car off Cape Wrath and signing a contract not to talk about the money burning for .... 23 years. Are B&J polishing off the podium for a press conference, I wonder? A wiki site, with information, might work well. I think it would be great for people more connected with the "KLF universe" to get involved too, like Pete Robinson. Maybe even Bill and Jimmy themselves will rear their heads. Trouble is, of course, if they do I suspect they would be disdainful, and possibly even try and put a stop to the project (you never know!) Still, if they do, we can all just drop them like a hot potato and all move on to something else ... Anne Dudley, anyone? ;-) Oh, and John, ccording to the klf.de discog, the release of "1987" was on the 15/22 May 1987. I suspect the 15th might have been the vinyl and 22nd been the cassette - although I could be wrong. I've heard rumours of a white label promo of JAMSLP1. Did it come out on the 15th, and the full release on 22nd? Bugger. That's true. And presumably a JAMSCD4 or KLF010CD barcode would put the check-out system into meltdown (hmmm ... could be interesting). I think if we're going to a retrospective, you can't really avoid "Tardis" (and I'm still a big fan of the video/radio 2'23 shortest possible version option). The Gary Glitter connection is, in retrospect, regretable, but not a huge obstacle. Since so many seem to be having a problem I've uploaded it to Rapidshare. i've also encoded it to flac to make the downloading faster. Looking again at John's proposed tracklist there are some great selections...i'm still not sure i would include anything post-KLF/JAMs but i can see the funny side of including Love Trance. I would personally prefer the full 12" mix of WTIL Live at Trancentral (which is available on non-UK CD singles) to the edit as I feel it is much stronger, but that is a personal thing and if it was for me I would leave out the other stadium house tracks and the J&A single as i'm sick of them tbh, but that's a purely personal opinion and they should be included as this obviously doubles as a 'greatest hits' collection and a rarities compilation The 1990 demo of 3AM could be nice too! Just to throw around some other ideas, might be nice to use the 'Rites of Mu' intro from the WFTROM CD, with the Scott Piering intro and 'Me Ru Con', or perhaps bookend the collection with Thomas and Dan's 'Intro' from Remixed & Remodelled, and their cheeky 'remix' of 'Deep Shit' which are both great I also thought it might be nice to include liner notes from KLF-related folks past & present, perhaps little soundbites & dedications similar to the press quotes in the 'Shag Times' gatefold For my part i can get in touch with Culf, Jamm!n Wheeler and ODC1 and I think we would have a fair chance of getting Pete Robinson to contribute The tracklist notes should of course be written by John! tbc. --------------------------------- Bored stiff? I used to have 2 copies of KLF5T and the original and the bootleg of KLF8T. KLF5T is definitely dated 1988 on the sleeve, as it was originally due for release on Hallowe'en 1988, but re-scheduled and put out in May 1989. All four KLF4T,R,5T,5R are all dated 1988 on the sleeve, despite that fact only the original issue of WTIL (KLF4T) actually appeared in 1988. Also, KLF4T, 5T and 5R were all reissued in July 1991. The only difference between the issues is that 5R didn't have a sticker in 1991. 4T and 5T were identical (apart from the inner white sleeves - original 1988/1989 issued tended to have the date written on the (11/88 etc.)) I'm not 100% sure about KLF8R (I can't remember the sleeve) but again its release date was put back, from 19th December 1988, to its eventual release in March 1990. KLF8T's release date was put back from 12 December 1988 to September 1989, and then dropped completely. The 1989 date sounds about right - especially as both it and "Chill Out" were released more or less on the cusp of the new decade. Basically, don't worry. I'm sure both your items are legit, at least far as I can without seeing them.
