If you Google "Newton Stewart Macmillan" you get a couple of photos of the Hall - looks like a public library. A strange place to record an album! Hopefully I should be visit there soon, during my travels! Apparently that's still a (partially) working quarry. An old boss of mine, a lawyer, worked in Newton Stewart in the 1960s (he was and is heavily involved in Scottish traditional music, and has fiddled at the Macmillan Hall several times) - and still has connections there. Simple question. Google and wiki turn up KLF references, but what about eariler? Where does it come from? When was the earliest use of the phrase? John
