Have you checked out Blacksmoke v2 yet? I love the Protest track in Sound - anyone know what it is? 'The Blacksmoke Organisation are pleased to announce the launch of Version 2 of our website. Also, remember all the stuff Bill has a hand in A&R-wise in the 1980s, from Strawberry Switchblade to Voice of the Beehive. Then there's the Triffids, as I was saying in my last post; Deep Purple (for Ian Gillan of AWTIL and the once-proposed album "The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu" in rock; "Iggy Pop's Jacket" by Those Naughty Lumps (with Bill's guitar part), Jimmy's "nasty" remix of "New York" by U2 or his mix of Juno Reactor's "Pistolero" etc. etc. etc.) Hope these ideas help! Both tracks credited to The Blacksmoke Organisation with the credit notation "Produced and Remixed by". The NASCAR track is published by Walt Disney Music, Cherry River Music, Pedal to the Metal Music and administered by Cherry River Music. The former solely published by Walt Disney Music. It must be Jimmy and Co. The 5-11 cd is also credited to The Blacksmoke Organisation. If it were just Blacksmoke I could understand some level of doubt. But the Org part pretty much confirms it, IMHO. Jimmy, nor any of the other musicians I believe, are not Thanked in the liner notes. It should be noted that when the DVD comes out, and assuming the Fully Loaded Remix track is indeed played over the closing credits, we can expect to hear this in 5.1 goodness. BTW, the NASCAR track is noted as not being in the film at all. Those with a more anorak knowledge of personnel than I might want to scan the liner notes for any connection with BSO. Meaning, the album's producer might have some history with Jimmy, etc. -paul

With some mixture of embarrassment and pleasure I picked up the Herbie Fully Loaded soundtrack today. It does indeed have two tracks credited to Blacksmoke. Both are variations on the Herbie theme from the 60s. Fully Loaded Remix (presumably played over the closing credits) features samples from the film, and the vs NASCAR track being a more straight updated version. Nothing to get overly excited about and not Blacksmoke authored tracks. The track played on the official movie website is a Blacksmoke track. -paul

I guess it's one thing if it's on the single of the track being remixed, but something like this looks like an attempt to sell records by using the KLF name. I suppose it's possible that he used the riff as a starting point and built up the song around it, then mixed the riff right out of the track. But that doesn't make it any better. -paul

There was a 12" called "Summer's Magic" by Mark Summers which got into the charts. There's also a 12" by "Badman" called "Magic Style" which I have. Hope that helps! No KLF affiliation other than samples (and didn't someone from GHP post here for a while?). Jet Lady Joe appears on the previously mentioned Sixx Mixx and I concur it's a great track.
