Bootlegs

Hi all, This is my first posting to the list! Just wanted to find out once and for all if some of my collection are boots or not. I'm concerned about the stamped run out groove that features on a few of my vinyls. This is seen on each of the following. Who killed the Jams Burn the Bastards Downtown Doctorin the tardis Does this mean they are all boots? Also concerning the Space LP, How can you tell if it's a boot or not? Mine has a bar code in the top left corner with Made in England underneath. Then in the bottom left hand corner is Distributed by the Cartel. The Space writing is very red. There is no mention of KLF comms. If you look at the difference in the black surrounding the pictures and the black inside the pictures, it is a different tone. I think this could be a boot. Who killed the Jams Burn the Bastards Downtown Doctorin the tardis -- I don't think any of these have ever been booted. As for Space, others are far more knowledgeable than I, but IIRC, if it doesn't say "KLF Communications" on it, it's a boot. -paul

Also remember, there was a flamenco-style demo of "3 AM Eternal" recorded with Graham Lee in late '88 (according to his interview on klf.de anyway). No offence guys but i do know albatross by fleetwood mack. I'm refering to the kind of spanish/flamenco sounding guitar and twin peaks type bass. It's only on for around 30 seconds, that's the one i'm after. Any ideas ??? Cheers JEZ.

I saw Brian play with the wondermints on the Pet Sounds tour and they were superb. I have been a fan of the Beech Boys since seeing them in 1985 (minus Wilson). The Pet Sounds music was almost exactly as It appears on the album though with the magic seeing it created live. I expect that the Smile LP will be just as good and as stated only a few tracks from the Smile sessions ever got full relaseses so there is no benchmark to compare with. Hi, Caroline, Maybe Paul has answered your query? I remember that there are a couple of mis-named tracks on the CD, certainly. I'm actually 300 miles away from my record collection at the moment, but am going home tonight. I will check my copy of the Possum CD soon. John - - - - John, I don't have the CD but I do have the Possum LP of "The History of the Jams" Unfortunately I don't have a record player available at present..... Do you know if the CD and the record are the same? There are 8 tracks listed on the cover but 9 on the record - "Burn the Beat - 7" mix" is the extra track. There are a couple of other differences in song names too if you are interested. Sorry I haven't checked the discog. to see what that reflects. I recently won an ebay job lot of 5 Brilliant 12" singles and the LP "Kiss the Lips of Life". Can anyone confirm that early Brilliant (such as "Wait For It" and "Colours") DOESN'T feature Jimmy, and theat JC only joined for the "Kiss the Lips" sessions onwards? Also - did anyone on this list actually start buying KLF records ("1987", etc) through being a fan of Brilliant first? Hi, Jez, As Gyerek says, the guitar strumming is Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross" (see Bill's "45" book for further info on his love for Peter Green-era Mac). I have a copy of the 3" CD of "After the Love Has Gone". If you want, I could send you an mp3 (there's three tracks on the disc altogether, including an "Orbital" mix) but I think I upped some to Rob's ftp a while back.
