The same story can be found in Matthew Collin's book "Altered State - The Story of Ecstasy Culture and Acid House". According to Collin, the rave happened on 30 September 1989, in a "muddy field in Oxfordshire" and was called "Helter Skelter". The performers - which included Bill and Jimmy, Ce Ce Rogers and Loretta Holloway - had to climb up a rickety ladder to play on the back of a flat-bed lorry. The KLF were given a fee of 1000 Scottish pound notes, "upon each of which they scribbled the message 'we love you children' before throwing them to the crowd". (Matthew Collin, "Altered State", page 106 - the only reference in the entire book to the KLF, bizzarely). About 4000 people attended the rave, and despite the drizzle, "the mood was elevated". On the same night, incidentally, another rave in South London was the site of a battle with police which resulted in seven officers being hospitalised. John Not Scots, just Scott-ish.

Hi, Someone asked earlier how it's possible that people are willing to pay £92.00 for a KLF bootleg? For me, it was curiosity - who had made it? And why make such a precise "mock up" of a could-be genuine release? I bid $150 for it (expecting to pay less), and I think "ir8git" must have put a HUGE price on it, as I still didn't outbid him! On the other hand, a few weeks back I got original copies of the "Stadium House" and "Waiting" videos together for £30. So, swings and roundabouts, eh? John Not Scots, just Scott-ish.

Hi! I'm new to the mailing list, so apologies if I'm doing this all wrong. I bid on the "Pure Trance" CD on ebay, and I think I was partly responsible for forcing the price so high (I still didn't win though)!. I found the "Pure Trance" CD intriguing. Certainly, going by the scanned covers, it was more convincing than any other KLF bootleg I've ever seen ("Lost Sounds of Mu", "White Room OST", etc.) For example, the numbers underneath the bar code on the back were correct for a 1989 UK KLF release - and were eleven digits higher than my copy of "The What Time is Love Story" CD and don't correspond to any other KLF record from that time. I just bid so I could have proper look! Anyway, I've been a KLF fan for fifteen years but have only been on the internet since last August. It's nice to see that not only are they remembered, but that their music and their spirit is kept alive! Roll on the Black Smoke album. John Milne "Not Scots, just Scott-ish"

KLF T-shirts - Available (at last)

Hi everyone I've got a couple of designs available to purchase. There is currently two shirts, a grey JAMs one and a white Trancentral/Speaker stack one. Anything on a white/grey clothing can be printed in a relatively easy way. The other designs will be done just as soon as I get the screens done. I will print batches of 10 for each design.
