(A open letter/post from Shane Martin)

Hello all my Dear friends,

Well, I have been putting off disclosing this for quite some time.

I didn't want to try and draw any attention to myself for this,

but a lot of people have been asking,

and so, I guess that I feel the time is right.

Sometime back,... it was discovered that I have something very seriously wrong with me Healthwise. My blood platelets were and are extremely low, and have developed into the diagnosis that I now have cirrhosis of the liver. We do not know what caused this, as no one in my family's history on either side have this condition, and as far as I know, I don't have an alcohol problem. It is something that threatens my life, and may have the potential to take me in the not too distant future.

However, there are not words to express my gratitude, and my most sincere and humble thanks to my younger brother, Kelby, who has offered to be a living donor for me. If, he ends up being a close enough match, which is unknown at this time, but if he is, he would save my life. How does someone say Thanks enough for something like this ? I am hoping that we will be able to know the answers to this within the next couple of months. My most heartfelt gratitude and thank you's go out to all of those who have been praying for me and my family. You will never know how much that has meant to me. It's amazing to feel this kind of love from friends and family.

And I know I have felt it from my Father in Heaven, and my Savior as well.

In this same vein, I have some dear friends who are unselfishly throwing a car show fundraiser for me and my family to help us through some of the medical financial burden that this has placed on us. It will be held on June 17th, Saturday, on the east side of Valley Fair mall in Salt Lake City from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. if any of you have the opportunity to come by,

I would so much love to see you. It would mean a lot to me. And my thanks to those who are organizing this.

My undying gratitude and love and appreciation for you all is more than I know how to express. Hopefully, the man upstairs will see fit to have things go in such a way that we might be able to extend my life, and be here for my family and friends for a few years yet to come. Thank you so much.
