The ICW had the opportunity to meet with Luz Escamilla and we were impressed with her experience and enthusiasm to support and get involved with the Italian cultural events, and annual festival. Luz Escamilla’s vision for Salt Lake City is a city that is sustainable and inclusive of all. Her perspective as an immigrant to this country and her experience in international relations give her a unique perspective of the importance of enhancing economic as well as diplomatic relationships between cities across the globe. She recognizes the value of culture, art, heritage, and economic growth that comes from cultural relationships. Our conversations with her demonstrate that she is one of us and that she will strengthen and expand the cultural relationships in Salt Lake City as our next Mayor.
