Salt Lake City Utah's Italian Consul Fortunato Anselmo, was the founder of Columbus Day in 1919, this is Italian history in Utah there rewriting, need your help. Hello Everyone: Today I spoke with Senator Allen Christensen ( R ) Utah. We discussed the recent legislation submitted by anti-Columbus forces to transform the Christopher Columbus holiday to Indigenous People's Day in the state of Utah. Myself and my organization the National Italian American Council ( NIAC ) worked closely with Senator Christensen last year to defeat the Bill that was submitted by opposing forces. Senator Christensen is a strong supporter of Columbus, his achievements and what the Columbus holiday stands for and represents to all good Americans. This year we Italian Americans, and supporters of Columbus must be ready once again to stand up and defend the Columbus holiday and parade. Opposing forces of Columbus are relentless, trying to remove everything related to Columbus and his achievements. They are a formidable force to deal with, they are slick and crafty. We, the supporters and advocates of Columbus must remain vigilant, and be prepared to voice our opinions, stand up to the challenge to oppose any legislation anti Columbus activists propose. It is my duty as the President of the National Italian American Council ( NIAC ) and as an Italian American, and a person who truly believes that Columbus not only discovered the new world. But done a great deal to help Native Americans from being slaughtered by other Native tribes, and other cultures. Let the Truth be Told - Columbus was not the slave trader, murderer, and war monger anti-Columbus activists would want the world to believe. Instead Columbus was religious man, honest and on a mission to take back the land that was stolen from the Christians. Today that land is still in the hands of the pirates who forcibly removed it from GOD Loving Christians. I have studied the man for decades, and can honestly say his legacy is being maligned by history revisionist and anti-Columbus activists who have a hidden personal agenda. The anti-Columbus forces have been at work to destroy the reputation of Columbus for decades. Anti-Columbus activists are trying to change American Culture. And it starts with changing history and the way people think. They are making great strides in many parts of the nation. They must be challenged and prevented from succeeding before we witness a complete transformation of our society, watching it slowly turn into something we no longer recognize. If you so believe in this message and want to support the Columbus Movement which is spearheaded by the National Italian American Council go to our website at NIAC - Working to Unite America<http://www.niacusa.com/>. La Piana AEL / Founder and President National Italian American Council ( NIAC ) History update ; Salt Lake City Utah's Italian Consul Fortunato Anselmo, from Grimaldi, Italy, functioned not only as a businessman but as a consular agent who aided Italians (and those of other nationalities) in the preparation of official documents and correspondence to be sent abroad. Anselmo worked to have Columbus Day declared an official state holiday in 1919. That first Columbus Day parade in Salt Lake City received wide support and excellent press coverage in the Salt Lake Tribune. So were rewriting the Italian history. I think Charlie needs to educate himself. The Italian consul wanted a parade equal to the pioneer parade. He wanted it for the Italian's to have their own holiday. And he felt Columbus was equal to Joseph Smith as a leader to the New Land read your history, this is not right Charlie <http://www.niacusa.com/> NIAC - Working to Unite America
