Opening Day, the official start of the 2024 sailing season is next Saturday, May 4, at Great Salt Lake State Park & Marina. This event is open to the whole marina community. Schedule of events: 10:30am - Skippers Meeting at the marina pavilion. This is the orientation for how the boat parade and blessing will proceed. 10:45am - Blessing of the Fleet - Prayer conducted by LeRoy Carter. This has been a long standing tradition and we are happy and thankful that Leroy has agreed to do this for us again. 11:am (approx.) - leave the marina for the Boat Parade 11:30am - Boat Parade back to the marina and Blessing of individual boats on the end of E dock 12:30pm - Mast Raising Party (help each other get your masts up) - held at the courtesy dock. Lawn Games Activities hosted by Great Salt Lake Row - More information to come in the next day or two. DECORATE YOUR BOATS for the parade - there will be a contest for the best decorated boat. 1st place is one month slip rent free. The Taco Stand will be set up that afternoon selling tacos, burritos and other food - courtesy of Exclusive Excursions. We hope this will be a regular vendor on weekends throughout the summer.
