Here is an update on the earthquake at Great Salt Lake. The center of the earthquake was just south if Interstate 80 just east of Kennecott's tailing ponds (more about that in a second) We have inspected the marina and damage is surprisingly very minimal. All the gangway and docks are structurally sound. We have electricity and water (more about that in a second too). All of our facilities are functioning and safe at this time. The visitor center and gift store is still closed due to orders regarding Coronavirus. All the boats appear fine. It is likely you have items strewn inside your boats though. We were in my fifth wheel when the earthquake it and it was like being in a snow globe that someone was violently shaking. The marina is closed until further notice. There was a large water leak out by Saltair. We are checking to make sure the road into the marina is not compromised. There is also a chemical leak at Kennecott. Until that is contained the marina will remain closed. Please do not try to come out here to check boats. It will just add to the chaos that the Fire Department already has. Their Incident Command center is at Saltair. Highway 201 and 202 are closed. I will keep you updated on closures but we are hoping to have full access back to the marina by tomorrow morning. A couple boats did shift on the boat stands but they look stable right now. Thank you, for your understanding. Dave
