GSL Slip Renters The Park Rangers were out here recently checking for vessel registration compliance. They have informed me that several citations were issued for expired registrations as well as failure to register boats under the new owner's name. I have also been informed that at least four boats have been put on a list of vessels that will be impounded if they are not properly (or even registered at all) by September 5th. Impoundment means the boat will be removed from the water and taken to a holding yard. I do not know all of the people that have received citations but I know there were over 25 issued with at least four vessels on the impound list. 73-18-7 (1) (a) states "Except as provided by Section 73-18-9, the owner of each motorboat and sailboat on the waters of this state shall register it with the division as provided in this chapter." 73-18-7 (2)(b) states "A person may not place, give permission for the placement of, operate, or give permission for the operation of a motorboat or sailboat on the waters of this state, unless the motorboat or sailboat is registered as provided in this chapter." Section 7 of the Boat Slip Lease states that "Boat Owner agrees to comply with all Utah boating laws and rules: Section 2 of the STANDARDS of the Boat Slip Lease states "All sailboats and motorboats must be properly and currently registered with bow numbers and stickers properly displayed before utilizing any state marina. If you are one of the unlucky ones that received a citation please check into the matter as soon as possible. Thank you.
