GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users; Well it took me awhile but I finally got the pictures from last Wednesday nights race on the website. Go to www.gslmarina.com and look down the left hand side of the home page. Click on "New And Improved Photo Album. There are some great pictures. This weekend is going to be a busy one. We have SAILFEST, the 8 mile swim competition and the one mile swim competition. With the construction going on in the south half of the parking lot, parking is going to be very tight. Please make sure you are occupying a parking stall and not blocking traffic. If you are bringing a camper or camping trailer out we want you to park them in the gravel section of the north parking lot. On Saturday, we have two different swim competitions. The first one is an eight mile swim from the south tip of Antelope Island to Black Rock. Each swimmer will have a support kayaker following him. Please watch out for the swimmers while you are out sailing. The other swim is a one mile swim from the marina entrance to Black Rock. These swimmers will be getting in the water at the launch ramp around 11:45am and will swim out to the marina mouth. They will start their swim at the green buoy just outside the mouth. The start time is at noon. Please be careful leaving or entering the marina at this time. After their noon start the swimmers should be completely out of the way of where you may be boating. So we only have a 15 minute window where we may have boats and swimmers in the same area. The weather forecast for SAILFEST is looking awesome. 80 degrees for a high with mostly sunny skies. High 40's for lows. Look for several news articles in the next short while about the Great Salt Lake once again being great now that the lake has come up so much. With all this water there is a LOT of current on the lake. The current that is causing the most trouble right now is the Goggins. It is rushing past the marina through the Reef Channel buoys. Watch your drift going in and out of the marina. Harbormaster
