Well, another Crane Day in the books. We put 33 boats in the water. Took one boat out of the water. We were planning on putting 34 boats in the water but one boat had a cracked hull that showed up upon lifting the boat with the crane. The crane day went very well thanks to all the volunteers that selflessly gave up their time for their fellow sailors. And it wasn't an easy day. There was a lot of work to do in temperatures nearing 100 degrees. THANK YOU, VERY MUCH to all that showed up to help! And thank you, Laurie, for feeding us! Some notes on this crane day. One boat had over 7000 gallons of fresh water inside the boat. It is ALWAYS a good idea to check the interior before putting your boat in the water. One boat sunk. This is a very good lesson on checking your thru hulls BEFORE you put the boat in. And then checking them again before your boat comes off the crane straps. Unfortunately there is substantial damage to the interior of the boat now. PLEASE DO NOT CALL ME asking if your boat is the one the sunk. The owner already knows. And PLEASE DO NOT CALL ME whether your boat was the one with the cracked hull. The owner of that boat already knows too. I still need to get paid by some of you. If you haven't paid me yet please do so ASAP. I have to write a substantially large check on Monday to cover the crane. The condition of trailers was much better this time. Yet we combated wasps and hornets on many of the trailers and cradles. If you have room for your trailers elsewhere PLEASE PICK THEM UP AND take them away! We are VERY short on room now. We will also start charging for all trailer storage. I will be sending slip contracts out in the next few days for those that do not have them filled out. Please get them back in ASAP. Once again, a BIG THANK YOU to all those that donated their time! Dave Dave Shearer Harbor Master Great Salt Lake State Marina Antelope Island State Marina 801-209-9142
