On June 9th there are two swimming events on the Great Salt Lake. The first event is the Long Distance swim. It starts at Unicorn Point on Antelope Island and finishes up at Black Rock. There will be 15 swimmers and 15 kayakers following the swimmers The other event is the open water swim which starts at the Great Salt Lake Marina and finishes at Black Rock. There may be over 30 participants in this shorter swim. The start line is just outside the marina mouth. Most of these swimmers will pose little problem for the normal boating traffic but please be aware of these swimmers. There will be a fair amount of congestion around 11:30 to 12:15 as the participants swim from the launch ramp out of the marina mouth to the start line. After that they should be out of the way of normal boating traffic. The long distance swimmers will be crossing the Reef Channel and the sailing area outside the marina from about 1:30 to about 3:30 in the afternoon. These swimmers should be fairly easy to see since they will be followed closely by kayakers.
