Last year the Volunteer Emergency Response team for Great Salt Lake was planning to hold a series of seminars. Well, with the improving lake levels, it is time to think about those seminars again. Below are some topics they are thinking about touching on. If you are interested in one or more of those topics please let me know so we can get them scheduled. Also do you prefer weeknights or Saturdays Here is a list of potential subjects: * Rules of the Road and ColRegs (collision regulations) * Navigation on the Lake and night time navigation. * Understanding and using a GPS. * Radio etiquette and protocol. Advantages/Disadvantages of Radio and Cell Phones. * Dewinterizing and preparing your boat for the new season. Inspecting the boat and rigging * Anchoring (how to properly anchor, what is the best anchor) and anchorages of Great Salt Lake. * The advantages of float plans. * Weather and Safety Some of these topics may be combined together during one seminar. Some of these clinics will definitely be better on a Weekend as they may be hands-on. If there are other topics you would like to see covered let me know. Also don't forget about the Great Salt Lake Yacht Club seminar schedule. Their seminars are also free and open to the public. Their schedule is as follows: * - Everything you never knew about the Mayflower with Dewitt Smith 2-27 * - History of the Great Salt Lake with Dave Shearer 3-13 * - Weather and Safety on the Great Salt Lake with Dave Shearer 3-27 * - Introduction to the Junior Program with Linda Leth and Racing Introduction by the GSLYC Race Chair Team 4-10 These seminars are all being held at the Safety Consortium, West Lawndale Drive, Salt Lake City from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
