This is just a follow up to previous emails I have sent out regarding dredging. As I have stated before in emails and at skippers meetings it is highly advised to stay dead center in the marina mouth when exiting and returning. If you get off-center it starts to become shallow. I have been sounding the marina and the mouth for the last two weeks. We did an extensive probing of depths in the marina from the Ranger dock all the way to the red buoy outside the mouth this afternoon. The shallowest spot we saw was 6.5 feet just inside the marina mouth (at a lake level of 4194.3'msl) staying in the center with most of the depths being a minimum of 7 feet. The green buoy outside the marina mouth is on the hard hump we tried to remove in 2008 and the dredgers tried to remove this spring. Keep some distance from the green buoy. The best path leaving the marina is to stay closer to the docks as you go out, then stay dead center in the marina mouth. Once you get to the outside center of the mouth head right for the red buoy until you are a couple boat lengths away. This will keep you in the deepest water. There is shallow water and rocks inside the marina along both breakwalls. As long as you stay centered you should be ok for a while. We will keep you posted on lake levels and depths as we get closer to fall. Thanks Dave Dave Shearer Harbor Master Great Salt Lake State Marina Antelope Island State Marina 801-209-9142
